We are extremely happy to introduce our new volunteer Sponsorship Coordinator as she steps into this important position. Jennifer Connell is joining our staff and we extend a hearty welcome to her. We have asked her to write a few words to introduce herself and we share that with you.
"As the new Sponsorship Coordinator at Global Outreach, I am excited to partner with you all as we share the powerful love of Jesus Christ with many around the world. I have been interested in international relations since I can remember and earned my Master’s degree in the subject by studying at the Brussels School of International Studies in Belgium. My studies have always focused on war and creating peace, and it was this focus that led me to the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
I have had the privilege to be a part of National Community Church’s (Washington DC) annual mission trip to Congo for Christ Center in Uvira, DRA since 2011. As many of you know, this partnership was birthed when Renee Reed took a step of faith and prayed some bold prayers with our Lead Pastor, Mark Batterson!
My work in international development and at National Community Church, where I am currently serving as the Office Manager, has helped me understand the complexities and wonderful potential of partnering with incredible people in vulnerable circumstances. I believe this type of partnership is a beautiful example of the community early Christians made to worship God and care for one another (see Acts 2:42-47). It is this type of holy and loving partnership that will transform the world for the better, and this is why I consider it an honor to step into this role!"
Those of you who sponsor one or more children will soon be hearing directly from Jennifer. She will also be sending information to those who sponsor children at Congo for Christ for the annual letter writing campaign.
