Our Recent Visit To House Of Refuge Orphanage In Myanmar

In the spring of 2015 Global Outreach began helping support House of Refuge, an orphanage in Yangon, Myanmar. Last month we were privileged to visit House of Refuge and personally meet Pastor Cyrus, his wife, Rebecka, and all the children. Sunday, January 10th, after visiting and ministering to another congregation in the morning, we were able to join the children at House of Refuge for a worship service in the afternoon.

We were so impressed with the children as they sang, quoted scripture, read a letter of thanks to Global Outreach donors, prayed and listened attentively as Bill preached the word of God.

Pastor Cyrus translated for those at the worship service while Bill Reed, Global Outreach Inc's General Director preached the word of God.

House of Refuge is located outside the main city on a nice plot of land donated to them in 2013 to begin an orphanage. Pastor Cyrus holds weekly services at the house and invites neighbors to join with the children in worship. We were so impressed with the children as they sang, quoted scriptures, read a letter of thanks to Global Outreach donors, prayed and listened attentively as Bill preached the word of God. Pastor Cyrus and Rebecka, who have two young daughters, care for these sixteen children by themselves at great personal sacrifice. Cyrus just informed us they are planning to accept six additional children from a region experiencing war and strife.

After the service we enjoyed a special lunch they had prepared for us, the children and the community members who attended the service. It was a special meal because it included meat, which they normally only eat one time per month. They told us that some of the children and elderly attending the church services eat with them on the weekends because they don’t have food at home.

The children enjoyed their meal after church. The meal was special because it included meat which the children normally only eat once per month.

We came away from our time at House of Refuge with an even stronger desire to help Pastor Cyrus and Rebecka as they care for these precious children.

Stayed tuned to the blog and our facebook later this month or download our latest newsletter to learn about an opportunity to bless these children and immensely improve their health at the same time.
