The Samoeng Girls Home Is Growing But Needs Your Help

We recently received an update from Reverend Wanchai Supawas and his devoted wife, Pensri, who run the Sameong Girls Home. The girls home, built in 1986 with funding provided by Global Outreach, is a haven of Christianlove and care where these teens who need a chance for a new life are taught the Word of God. Most of the girls come from hill tribes and villages where they face a high risk of drug, alcohol, sex trade, and other abusive behaviors. Often when the girls enter the home, they are far behind their peers educationally and need extra help and encouragement to catch up with their studies.

When we last visited, twelve girls were living in the home. We talked to Pastor Wanchai about the possibility of increasing the number of girls they care for. He told us the cost to care for each girl is about 2,000 baht per month which is about $65. They grow some of their own food and the girls help with the cooking, laundry, and other chores. We were blessed to attend Sunday services at the church located on the same property as the home. We were so impressed with the love for theLord these girls displayed as we worshipped together. Pensri invests much time and energy discipling each of the girls andtraining them to be Godly women.

Through the years many of the girls who complete the program have gone on to higher education and training and are now serving invarious ministries as wellas professional jobs such as accountants, teachers and nurses. Others have returned to their home villages and opened successful businesses.

We are happy toknow that seven new girls have been added this year bringing the total to sixteen. One of the new students, Hataikarnkan Waraya, has come because her mother was a student living there in 1994. Her life was so changed and impacted she wanted herdaughter to have the same opportunity for trainingshe received.

Without the continued support of our partners, opportunities to impact these young lives forChrist would not be possible. Your support is essentialto continuing these vital ministries.
