If you have children in your home, you are well aware of the excitement and expense of preparing for the new school year. This month we will share photos and information about the children and adult students assisted in attending school by your gifts to Global Outreach.
Congo:
In Congo, education is considered to be a privilege and even public schools charge tuition, fees, and require uniforms and shoes. Many children are not able to even attend elementary school in Congo. The 58 orphans at Congo for Christ will begin the new school year in a couple of weeks. The National Community Church team members who visited Congo for Christ in June are working hard to raise money for annual costs of the school related expenses for the orphans.
While we were in Congo in July, we had the honor of attending the first graduation of the Bible College at Congo for Christ. The ten graduates and their families have each made great personal sacrifices to be able to complete the three year program of study. Bill was honored to be the commencement speaker and award the diplomas. Global Outreach gave a Bible Commentary to each graduate as well as a small monetary gift to each graduate’s wife. Many of these graduates are already ministers who work at Congo for Christ Missionary Church. This graduation would not have been possible without your faithful support which is used to pay the teachers and principal as well as provide food and other supplies for the school. Please pray that many new students will be able to join the school in September so they may study God’s word in preparation for ministry.
India:
The nearly 250 orphans supported by Global Outreach returned to school in June. Thanks to your generous giving, we were able to supply new book bags this year to replace their worn and ragged bags they had been using for sev-eral years. In addition to the new bags, we were also able to contribute toward the necessary school supplies and books for the primary, middle school, and secondary students. The older teen girls and boys who live at the or-phanage returned to their studies at the beginning of August. These young people, many of whom have been rescued from brothels and other dire situations, study at the two year medical training school or at the Bible School. Both of these vocational schools are located at the Feed My People campus in Tenali funded by Global Outreach. This summer forty teen girls graduated from the medical program and are now pursing employment or further nursing training. Thirty new girls and ten new teen boys have joined the program this summer.
Thailand:
School is also in session for the girls who live at the Sameong Girls Home north of Chiang Mai. These girls coming from troubled backgrounds attend public school, but live at the girls home and are mentored by Reverend Wanchai Supawas and his wife, Pensri. We were so impressed with the work they are doing to impact these young women for Christ. Each summer they take in an additional group of girls to fill the places vacated when girls graduate from the program.
Your generous gifts reach around the world to help change the lives of children, teens, and adults. Education is such an important part of helping to equip them to earn a living and most importantly to share the gospel with others within their villages and nations. We truly appreciate and value your prayers and partnership in support of these global ministries.
