New Orphans and a Building Project in Myanmar

House of Refuge home is once again bursting at the seams and in need of more space! When we visited in January 2016, they had thirteen children and even then the home seemed crowded. Since then, they accepted an additional nine children last summer, six this summer and now have a total of twenty-eight children. Pastor Cyrus and his wife, Rebecka, also have two young daughters. The boys all sleep in a bamboo house, (see August 2015 newsletter) the girls all in one bedroom, and Cyrus and his family share one small bedroom. Everyone shares a single living space for eating, studying, Bible classes and other daily activities. Knowing that they are living in such crowded conditions, it was no surprise when Pastor Cyrus told us they are in urgent need of another house.

It is an easy decision for us to want to help Pastor Cyrus when he shares a need. He didn’t even ask for us to pay for the new project, rather, he showed us what they had already done to meet the need on their own. The new 30 x 20 foot building they are currently working on will provide two rooms that will be used for church services, a dining hall, a study room, as well as a classroom for the children and members of the surrounding community.

The older children are working hard to help with the new house.

The total cost of the new building is estimated to be $8,810. Some of you have already donated to this need through the donation page on our website. We have been able to send your funds to keep the construction moving along.

Thank you to all who have given and any additional donations for this project can be designated for House of Refuge building.

The foundation for new building is dug by hand.

Pastor Cyrus always expresses his love and thankfulness for every gift we send to House of Refuge:

“Thank you for everything you have done and shown the unconditional love of our Lord Jesus Christ to the lives of forgotten children.”
