The March 2014 newsletter shared the need to raise $54,435 to complete the construction of a new school at Congo for Christ in Uvira, DRC Congo. We also announced the generous offer of a matching grant to help us reach this goal. We are rejoicing over the amazing answers to this need provided by God through His people.
We have asked two members of mission teams from National Community Church in Washington DC that have invested their time and energy into this project to share with our partners.

One of the best things about this season of our relationship with our friends in Uvira is how the fundraising for the Mango Tree School has brought even more people into the circle of those who have bought into what is happening in Congo.
A few weeks ago, several of us ran a bake sale at one of our church locations. It felt last minute and unpolished. We weren’t even sure we were going to actually do it. But I’m so glad we did, because we saw a small miracle unfold before our eyes! People were so incredibly generous, without prior notice and without prior knowledge of what we were doing in Congo. So generous, in fact, that there was clearly something else going on besides our baked goods and the little we could communicate about how much the kids in Uvira mean to us and how important this school is.

We literally got to see God’s provision and love for the kids spill out of people who had no prior connection to Congo. It was so crazy and unexpected. Those of us who were there were in a little bit of shock afterwards. By the end of the day, the new school building was fully funded! Those of us who have been to Uvira and met the people there, seen the land, have already bought in. Now there are so many more people who have put a lot of their lives into our kids as well.
